"Strength and Mobility for Cross Country Runners"
Who: Rising 8th- 12th grade students
When: July 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24

What: A 6-session strength and mobility training module geared specifically towards cross country runners to help you establish a strong frame upon which to build your summer mileage and fall workouts. Recurring injury such as shin splints and knee pain are preventable to the extent that you learn proper body mechanics and running form and employ good prehab and strengthening techniques. Functional movement patterns are necessary for optimal running performance and each class participant will be guided into developing them. Dr. Thornberry uses a coaching and clinical mindset to combine the best techniques and exercises used from elite programs such as Nike Oregon Project, University of Washington Cross Country, Olympian Kara Goucher, and the NAZ Elite.
You will receive:
-guided instruction on the most effective ways to strengthen and mobilize key areas for the runner’s body
-advice on injury prevention for common XC injuries such as shin splints, knee pain, hip pain, to name a few.
-a test run on our Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill
-tips for how to effectively use those foam rollers and lacrosse balls sitting around in your house!
-individualized attention from Dr. Tomilyn Thornberry with max class sizes of 8
-a fun, group atmosphere with other young runners from the area.
How much: $20 per session or $100 for all 6 sessions (paid in advance).
Payment will be accepted on the first day of class the athlete attends (via check, cash or card).
