What is your favorite part about being a patient at TRST?
I thoroughly love the friendliness and optimism expressed by the therapists at TRST. I also enjoy the interesting, running related conversations I have with Tomilyn...I have had a wonderful experience at TRST and would recommend this...to all athletes!

Why do you run? (or swim, bike, hike, play baseball, do yoga, Crossfit, etc.)?
 I run because the feelings I get from going out on a long run or finishing a hard workout is like no other.  I enjoy the competition track and field and XC has to offer.  I love everything but the injuries.

What is one of your current goals for your health or sport performance?
One of my main goals I have for my sport performances is breaking my JC 5000m record of 14:30.  A tall order but I like high goals.

Who is your athlete role model?
My favorite athlete and role model is Matthew Centrowitz.  He is so fast and so confident.  In races, his winning celebrations are so funny it makes me laugh.  I can tell he works hard everyday based on the videos I've seen of him over the past years and it's been such a motivation for me to keep working harder.

What is your favorite post-competition meal ?
Actually, my favorite post-competition meal is IN-N-OUT!  I also take every chance I get after my race to grab a bag of skittles at the concession at the meet or at a gas station on a bus ride home.

Trayvon Bromell's training log

An inside look at a week of training for former Baylor University and current professional ( Team New Balance ) star sprinter, Trayvon Bromell. As a convenient follow-up to yesterday's blog post this goes to show that The training plans are readily available and often uncomplicated.  It's unlikely that Mike Ford would release information that was a secret key to giving Trayvon the competitive edge. You can do all of the best and hardest workouts but that is only one small piece of the road to success (or in Trayvon's case, the #RoadToRio ! ) Still, it is always fun to peek inside the training plan of a pro and see what their daily trip to the track consists of. USA Indoors Championships takes place today and tomorrow (March 11-12) in Portland, OR. Coverage can be followed on Flotrack's twitter.

"The grind" : Not what you think it is

Legendary track and field coach Dan Pfaff delivers simple yet profound insight into what it takes to be elite. Through his years coaching numerous national, world and Olympic champions he has observed common behaviors and traits among those that rise to fulfill the goals they set out to achieve. Achieving more is not just about grinding harder, contrary to popular belief. The life of a champion is a fine-tuned art and who better to cue off of than those who have reached the highest levels of success in their craft? Dan Pfaff compiles some of his observations in this article. Find one thing that resonates with you and try  to focus on improving it for 1 month.
