Dr. Thornberry, an Ohio native, received her BS in Biology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, where she also competed in NCAA Division I Cross Country and Track. She then received her Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame and her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic- West in San Jose, CA. She and her husband, Dr. Prusso, along with their three children, moved to Greenville from California in 2021. She initially owned and operated her private sports chiropractic practice in Palo Alto and Pleasanton, CA from 2015-2021. She is happy to bring her skills and expertise to Greenville and the upstate of South Carolina and specializes in treating endurance and youth athletes, as well as those in the pregnancy/postpartum and perimenopause/menopause population. She is certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Rocktaping and Applied Kinesiology (100-hour course). She is additionally trained in Instrumented Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), myofascial release, cupping, and McKenzie technique. She uses a Diversified style of adjusting the spine and extremities. Dr. Thornberry, a USATF certified coach, has coached track and cross country at multiple high schools in California and privately coaches several sub-elite marathoners, including a 2024 US Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier. In addition to patient care, Dr. Thornberry provides educational instruction for female athletes and conducts speaking engagements on the topic of Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome (RED-s) Dr. Thornberry has worked with athletes of all levels from professional to high school to weekend warriors. She has treated at numerous events including the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials, USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships, World Indoor Track and Field Championships and at the headquarters for first responders during the 2018 California wildfires. She also completed a 6-month clinical rotation at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Martinez, CA, helping military men and women recover from injury and manage pain. A lifelong chiropractic patient and athlete, Dr. Thornberry understands and values addressing areas of dysfunctional movement to help the body heal itself and prevent or overcome injuries that keep us from feeling and performing our best. As a chiropractor and a coach, Dr. Thornberry believes in listening to and educating her patients and athletes in a way that promotes lasting lifestyle changes that resonate for each individual. She believes that women in midlife and beyond not only deserve quality healthcare but also the support to feel equipped to advocate for themselves in all healthcare settings. In addition to running and strength training, Dr. Thornberry enjoys tending her garden, biking with her husband, being a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, singing showtunes with her kids, baking sourdough bread, watching the Bachelor (!), crafting and cheering on Notre Dame football. |
