Chiropractic ManipulationThe purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile, or restricted in their movement, as a result of tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as the improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as running with improper biomechanics. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation of the affected joints maximize range of motion, improves overall function of the area, and decreases pain.

Soft Tissue TherapyThornberry Running & Sports Therapy offers the latest techniques in soft tissue mobilization. Myofascial release technique as well as Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization are both utilized to treat soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue is everything other than bone. When dealing with musculoskeletal injuries, we are referring to muscle, tendon, ligaments, connective tissue known as fascia, and bursa. Myofascial release works by using a combination of pressure, tension, and motion to separate and stretch out areas where scar tissue has accumulated. The release that comes as a result increases your range of motion, flexibility, and strength.

Movement Assessment |
Kinesiotaping |
At Thornberry Running and Sports Therapy we use the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Functional Movement Screen to gain a better understanding of each patient's limitations in their movement patterns. The assessment provides an efficient method to find the cause of symptoms, not just the source, by logically breaking down dysfunctional patterns and diagnosing their root cause as either a mobility problem or a stability/motor control problem. In addition to the SFMA, we utilize sport-specific movement screens to help identify asymmetries and imbalances which guide treatment protocols that will decrease injury occurrence as well as improve performance.
Corrective Exercise and RehabTherapeutic exercises are introduced to each patient at Thornberry Running and Sports Therapy as a means of promoting proper strength and mobility on your own time. We provide you with return-to-sport essentials to ensure that you are moving optimally. We also direct you on self-care methods in foam rolling, stretching, mobility drills, postural retraining and other self-treatment strategies. We believe you attain what you can maintain and we give you the tools to do so.

Thornberry Running and Sports Therapy offers, kinesiotaping, a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. Muscles are not only attributed to the movements of the body but also control the circulation of venous and lymph flows, body temperature, etc. Therefore, the failure of the muscles to function properly induces various kinds of symptoms. We apply Rocktape over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is a non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion.
